Who says ambition is dead? Mayor Boris Johnson prods David Cameron on Europe

No sooner had I finished my previous post on the dilemma that David Cameron has over Europe and the Lisbon Treaty than I discover that Mayor Boris Johnson has spoken out, skilfully prodding the sensitive skin over David Cameron’s carefully nuanced position on the issue.

Who says ambition is dead?

I’m sure David Cameron will be OK.  Old Etonians are taught how to watch their backs.

  1. What would the question be? It seems most likely that it would be of the form:

    Should the UK:

    a) Leave the EU and hope to get a free trade deal of some kind
    b) Attempt and likely fail to achieve some re-negotiation of Lisbon
    c) Shut up?

How many hospitals/schools/care homes would it cost?

Bojo’s attempt to hold Chameleon to whatever his former line was whenever he enunciated it (he has been entirely chameleon-like on this issue) may help keep those who otherwise will defect to UKIP/BNP onside, but more likely it is just another blow in the defenestration of the Tory Party.

    Who are the bastards now?
